Weekend Weed Out In Madison Real Estate

I usually write a catchy little intro before I go into the news links for the week. I can’t think of a catchy intro this week. So here is this weeks that may or may not have anything to do with Madison real estate.

A federal grand jury has indicted a real estate agent hired to sell a $30 million state property on charges that he sought a kickback from a potential buyer. The indictment charges Larry Lupton with bribery, wire fraud and making false statements to the FBI.

Existing home sales fell again in Wisconsin during the second quarter of 2007, although the sales decline was less severe than other states, according to a report issued Wednesday by the Wisconsin Realtors Association. The large inventory of unsold Wisconsin homes, along with the downturn of the subprime housing market, is affecting other sectors of the economy and slowing consumer and commercial loan demand, according to a report, also issued Wednesday, by the Wisconsin Bankers Association.

Something Verbose

There has been a ton of news about Community Car and how much it is expanding in the Madison area. However, with few exceptions, I have not been able to find very much information about how students might take advantage of it. I decided to look further because as anyone who has tried to bring a car to campus knows, it is expensive, a hassle, and the car is hardly used.

I’ve complained in the past — here and here — about proposals to install streetcars in Madison. I’m thrilled to see today that the mayor has abandoned the plan:
