Things are starting to come together around The Gardyn. We still have some seeding, planting, and weeding to do, but we are almost ready to fully launch. Besides the NY Times article about real estate in our fine city here is the news that may or may not have anything to do with Madison real estate.

It’s a smaller parade, but the floats are as fancy as ever. This year’s Parade of Homes features just 21 homes, the first time under 30 in more than a decade and the fewest since 1982, but they’re as big and stylish as ever.

In short, the basis for our selection into a conventional listing had a lot to do with the factoid that I was very busy, we had one toddler in the house, and Julia was along the way. Our sample experience was that we sold for exactly the price we’d have sought via FSBO.

So Madison is special — don’t we know? — because of FSBOMadison.com and because of our “highly educates and liberal” “antiestablishment” culture. Does that make us resist professional help and think we can do better? Personally, I just can’t picture myself interacting with all manner of strangers and ushering them around my house.
